Tsavo East national park
One of Kenya’s oldest and largest parks, Tsavo East is famous for its vast, flat plains, the iconic ‘red elephants’ (who dust themselves with the park’s reddish soil), and the dramatic Yatta Plateau, one of the world’s longest lava flows. Its sheer scale offers a sense of untouched wilderness.
What Makes it Unique: Expansive wilderness, ‘red elephants,’ Aruba Dam (a wildlife magnet), Lugard Falls, and the sheer challenge of finding wildlife (a rewarding experience for true enthusiasts).
Activities: Game drives, birdwatching, exploring geological features.
Bush dinner or breakfast
Epicurean Delights in the Wild
Imagine a gourmet breakfast served under an ancient acacia tree as elephants graze nearby, or a candlelit dinner under a canopy of a million stars. Bush meals are an integral part of the luxury safari experience. Even simpler, a “sundowner” – enjoying a cold drink and snacks as the sky explodes in colour at dusk – is a classic and profoundly moving ritual.

Horse or camel back safari
For a truly different perspective, certain conservancies offer safaris on horseback or camelback. This allows you to blend seamlessly into the environment, often getting closer to plains game that might be spooked by a vehicle. It’s an intimate and exhilarating way to explore the wilderness, reaching areas vehicles simply can’t.

Hot air balloon safaris
Considered by many to be the ultimate safari experience, a hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara (or other selected parks) is an absolute must-do. As dawn breaks, you’ll silently float above the sprawling plains, witnessing the landscape awaken below. Herds of wildebeest, elephants, and giraffes appear as tiny specks, offering unparalleled photographic opportunities. The experience culminates with a champagne breakfast served right in the bush – a memory you’ll cherish forever.
